HOW WE CAN HELP
Common Concerns

ACNE
It is a widespread skin condition. It affects up to 80% of teenagers and young people during puberty, yet we also treat many adults experiencing a devastating breakout later in life. Whatever your age, acne can severely impact your confidence and managing it can be challenging. We provide several treatments for active acne and the unwanted, long-term skin complications that can arise, such as scarring and pigmentation.

ACNE SCARING
Any type of acne can lead to acne scarring and it is a common concern for men and women and have a huge impact on self-esteem. Scarring is often very red when they are newly formed before becoming depressions, pitted indents, raised bumps, or dark pigmented marks. At The Shiny Touch, we have several treatments that can help to reduce or eliminate acne scarring to reveal healthy skin and a more even complexion.

AGE SPOTS
Age spots, or liver spots, are flat, dark areas of pigmentation that typically form after many years of sun exposure. To protect the skin from UV rays, the body produces melanin, but melanin can clump together, and these marks appear on the face, hands, shoulders and arms, which are regularly exposed. Although harmless, they are often a cause for concern, and we offer laser and skincare treatments to improve their appearance.

AGING HANDS
Our hands are exposed to a lot, yet the skin is thinner with fewer oil-producing glands, so it is one of the first places to reveal the signs of the ageing process. Sun exposure, environmental factors like the weather and regular exposure to harsh chemicals leads to dry, crepey skin, loss of volume, fine lines and wrinkles, and age spots. At The Shiny Touch, we can develop a treatment programme to restore a more youthful appearance.

BUMP ON THE NOSE
A bump on the nose, or dorsal hump, is a common genetic characteristic that often affects self-esteem. Traditionally, a surgical rhinoplasty was the only solution to smoothing this bump, but recently, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have become popular as a temporary but minimally invasive alternative. Although dermal fillers cannot be used to reduce the size of the nose, they can also be used to camouflage a flat bridge, bridge misalignment or a lifted or misshapen tip.

Crow’s Feet
Not all wrinkles are the same! Crow’s feet, which fan out from the corners of the eyes, are dynamic wrinkles formed from our facial muscles’ constant contraction and relaxation. Crow’s feet can often become very deep and visible even when our face is relaxed because the skin is much thinner while at the same time, we are constantly smiling, frowning, squinting and blinking. Anti-wrinkle injections are particularly effective for treating these lines.

Dull, Dry Skin
Dehydrated skin, often combined with enlarged pores and rough texture, is a common aesthetic concern caused by several factors. One of the most common reasons is slowing cellular renewal and building up dead skin cells on the surface. As we age, hyaluronic acid, which is responsible for plumpness and hydration, depletes, and lifestyle factors such as sun damage, smoking, drinking and stress all accelerate skin changes. We offer many treatments that can restore radiance.

Excessive Sweating
Sweat is a necessary bodily function to cool us down, but excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is estimated to affect up to 3% of the population. It can affect the whole body, but many men and women suffer from localised sweating under the arms, on the hands or feet. Hyperhidrosis can cause sufferers to feel extreme embarrassment, causing them to avoid social or work situations. Muscle relaxing injections have proven effective in alleviating excessive sweating.

Facial Volume Loss
Ageing is the main reason for facial volume loss, although weight fluctuations, sun damage and other lifestyle factors accelerate the process. As we age, we lose collagen and elastin which are responsible for structure and elasticity. At a deeper level, facial bone and fat pad absorption also occurs. The results are temple hollows, tear troughs, sunken cheeks, deep folds and jowls. At The Shiny Touch, we offer many treatments to reverse facial volume loss.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Wrinkles are usually the first visible signs of facial ageing, appearing as crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead lines and lines around the nose and mouth. Your genetics and lifestyle choices affect how quickly you notice these changes, but the underlying cause is the loss of collagen and elastin, which provide elasticity and support. Hyaluronic acid also depletes, which keeps the skin hydrated and plump. We offer several treatments aimed at reversing these changes.

Forehead or Frown Lines
Forehead or frown lines are the furrows and ridges across the brow or between the eyebrows. They are caused by the actions of the frontalis muscle that is responsible for many of our facial expressions, as well as loss of collagen and elastin in the skin as we age. They can often become very deep set over time. At The Shiny Touch, we offer several injectable treatments to improve forehead wrinkles and erase an unduly tired or worried appearance.

Hooded Eyelids
Many men and women complain droopy eyelids make them look tired and less dynamic. Typically, it results from loss of elasticity, causing excess skin to form on the upper lid, obscuring the natural, youthful crease of the eye and making it look smaller. Some are genetically predisposed to hooded eyelids, and even younger patients may want to improve the appearance of the eyelids. For mild to moderate hooding, some non-surgical approaches can be effective.

Jowls
Loss of skin elasticity and tissue descent underpin many facial ageing changes, including the softening of the jawline and chin, known as jowls. This process can be accelerated by weight loss, sun damage and other lifestyle factors. Genetics can also play a role, as some younger men and women can experience jowling at an earlier age. At The Shiny Touch, we offer several approaches for tightening the lower face and restoring a more defined jawline.

Marionette Lines
Marionette lines run from the mouth corners towards the chin and frequently result from the ageing process. Genetics often determine when they will appear and the rate at which they develop, but lifestyle factors, particularly sun damage and smoking, can accelerate this change. A downturned mouth will often accompany marionette lines, making you look unduly unhappy or cross. Innovative injectable treatments can be a highly effective treatment for this concern.

Nasolabial Folds
The lines between the nose and mouth are present in all of us to some degree, whatever our age. However, loss of facial volume in the mid-face causes our cheeks to flatten, which is one of the leading causes of nasolabial folds deepening and becoming more visible. One of the most effective treatments we offer at The Shiny Touch is hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to replace scaffolding in the mid-face, lifting and smoothing the nasolabial folds.

Neck Bands & Décolletage
The neck and décolletage can be challenging to treat, yet they can reveal ageing changes as quickly as the face. The skin is more fragile as it lacks the thicker layer of fatty tissue, which provides support and plumpness, so crepey, loose skin and pigmentated marks appear. Necklace lines and neck bands can become more evident as the skin thins. We offer a range of treatments to improve the appearance of the neck and chest.

Pigmentation
A clear complexion is desirable, but pigmentation changes due to overproduction of melanin can appear as unsightly marks. Sun exposure is key as melanin is produced to protect the skin from UV damage. Over time, melanin clumps together and becomes visible. Hormonal imbalances can also play a role, and melasma is a common pigmentation concern often appearing during and after pregnancy.

Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic, often distressing skin condition mainly affecting the face that causes redness, inflammation and visible blood vessels. In some cases, it can cause small bumps and pimples that are often confused with acne. It affects more women than men, and it can be genetic. Although there is no cure for rosacea, we have several treatments at The Shiny Touch which can help you manage the long-term effects on your skin.

Sagging Skin
As we age, sagging skin is a common complaint. Collagen and elastin are naturally occurring components of the dermis that provide scaffolding and elasticity, which give skin the ability to snap back. As their production slows down, we start to see this loss of firmness, accelerated by the shrinking of the facial fat pads beneath. We offer various treatments to combat this concern and can advise you on the most appropriate approach.

Stubborn Fat
Even very slim and toned men and women can experience stubborn fat pockets somewhere on their body that is resistant to diet and exercise. Common areas of concern are fatty tissue deposits under the chin, upper arms, back, stomach, hips, flanks, and thighs. Hormonal changes can also make the body cling on to fat, and menopausal and post-menopausal women often find it hard to shift. Fat dissolving injections are an effective treatment for stubborn fat.

Tear Trough
he tear trough is the interface between the under eye and the upper cheek and is caused by several ageing changes. Sagging skin and muscles results in the fat pads under our lids bulging forward, while at the same time, tissue descent in the mid-face causes a more pronounced grove to appear. Patients often complain of eye bags and dark circles. At The Shiny Touch, we have a unique and innovative approach to treating the under eye area.

Thin Lips
Some women may have always been dissatisfied with the shape or size of their lips and wish to have a natural-looking augmentation. However, this is also a common concern for older women who have seen a volume loss due to the natural ageing process. Temporary hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are a highly effective treatment to both restore and enhance the lips. We also offer treatments for smoothing the perioral lines that commonly appear around the mouth.

Double Chin
A double chin, known medically as submental fat, is the layer of fat that forms beneath the chin. Although it is often associated with weight gain, even very slim, toned men and women can start to see a loss of definition in the lower face, as skin sagging and tissue descent occur as we age and it can appear very ageing. Fat dissolving injections are a popular and effective treatment for targeting stubborn pockets of fat resistant to diet and exercise.
