FOREHEAD & FROWN LINES
Forehead and frown lines are the furrows that form vertically across the brow and between the brows. Initially, they may present as fine lines that disappear when the face rests. Over time, though, they can deepen and become constantly visible as collagen and elastin depletes and the skin becomes less able to bounce back.
These lines are termed dynamic wrinkles because they are formed by repeated facial expressions, such as squinting, smiling, and frowning.
Typically, dynamic wrinkles present in the upper third of the face and most people will develop horizontal forehead lines with vertical lines on the nose bridge, the glabellar, often called ’11 lines’.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the causes of forehead and frown lines?
What's the most effective treatment? Lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows respond very well to Anti-Wrinkle Injections.
Several factors cause lines to appear across the forehead and between the brows. Key factors include:
-
Genetics: The ageing process affects us all, but some men and women are more genetically susceptible to marked facial lines.
-
Repetitive facial expressions: Lines on the forehead and between the brows are caused by repeated contractions and relaxation of our facial muscles.
-
Loss of collagen and elastin: As we age, collagen and elastin levels naturally decline. These proteins are responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity, and their breakdown results in sagging skin and the formation of lines on the forehead.
-
Sun damage: Although collagen and elastin levels drop due to the ageing process, that loss can be accelerated, and damage from UV rays is the primary cause. Premature facial ageing presents in many ways, but forehead and frown lines are often the first signs.
-
Smoking: Cigarette smoking is another common facial ageing accelerant. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor that restricts oxygenated blood flow, while thousands of other harmful chemicals deplete vital nutrients necessary for skin health.
How long does it last? The results from Anti-Wrinkle Injections typically last three to four months. There is thought to be a preventative effect in that you’re less likely to develop significant furrows over time.
OTHER OPTIONS? Another option is collagen-stimulating treatments like Morpheos 8 and CO2 Laser which is performed with the latest technology. However will take more time.
